VOYAGE NUMBER:  20250104

FROM: Sydney To: Manly

DATE: 9 January 2025

POSITION: Blakesley

REPORT: Red Watch

After an early start at 0400, our watch made our way onto deck as we cruised past the Byron Bay lighthouse. There were hints of a nearby storm, but all turned out well and made for a great sunrise. Hugh cooked up an absolute storm consisting of hash browns, toast with condiments as far as the eye could see, and a dash of tinned spaghetti. As the voyage continued, we were visited by a rather large pod of bottlenose dolphins, which was a welcome sight for those just making it out onto the deck. Hugh later served up an amazing burger buffet which hit the spot for all on board.
We finally arrived at the border, entering the great state of Queensland, where blue skies, sunshine, sharks and very warm weather greeted us. However, this welcoming was short lived as we were smashed by a storm off the coast of Surfers Paradise, causing the ship to come to a complete standstill. As the weather began to briefly clear, our watch took control of the vessel once again and we made our way into Southport, where we were again greeted by torrential downpour. The rain eased off once we reached our anchorage, where we had the chance to step onto dry land once again.
Shortly after this stop, we got moving again and travelled through the canals to at last reach Moreton Bay! Hugh, for the third time today made an amazing meal, which tonight was spaghetti bolognaise with a side of salad, and apple crumble for dessert. Yippee!! We anchored once again just off the coast of North Stradbroke Island and finally settled in for the night, looking forward to a day in the bay tomorrow.
