CLIENT: GPV Voyage
VOYAGE NUMBER: 20250104
FROM: Sydney To: Manly
DATE: 8 January 2025
POSITION: en route to Southport
REPORT: Red Watch
We sailed through the night, and arrived at Coffs Harbour after sunrise, around 7am in the morning. After packing away all the sails, the watches prepared to go ashore for a few hours before setting off again later in the day.
Rainbow watch was formed, by different members of all the watches who wanted to hike up the headland to a lookout, where we admired the wonderful views of the ocean, and wildlife. Most people then enjoyed a drink at the café, followed by hot chips. Many hats were also bought (and some later lost overboard) by quite a few trainees.
After taking on more fuel, water, and stores, we did a knot competition (todays choice being the bowline), where unfortunately red watch was not successful, taking an unfortunate 173 seconds. Just as we were about to set off again, the heavens decided to open up, and we were pummelled by a LOT of rain. 30 minutes later, we were out on the open seas again, and many decided to have an afternoon nap. The rest of the day was spent sailing north, where we managed to avoid most of the stormy weather that surrounded us.
