CLIENT: GPV Voyage
VOYAGE NUMBER: 20250104
FROM: Sydney To: Manly
DATE: 6 January 2025
POSITION: Broughton Is
REPORT: Blue Watch
We were woken by our watch leader at 2340 to prepare for our midnight to 0400 watch. Before heading up to the deck, we donned our PFD’s and prepared ourselves to work in the dark. When we went out on deck, we were pleased to find clear skies with smaller waves than during the day. The milky way galaxy in all its glory stretched out over us and allowed for navigation by the stars. Lookouts had to be extra careful of crab pots whose lines could catch on our propeller and break it. Blue watch successfully did a one watch drop of all the sails at 3:30am.
We then anchored in Fingal Bay and went to bed at 4am but unfortunately, we only got 2 hours of sleep before being woken up at 6am. After we lost the reef knot competition we set sail for Broughton Island, once we arrived, we brought the sails down and went for a swim in the bay. The water was a beautiful clear aqua and we saw a stingray. After we got back to the ship, we held a back stay competition which blue watch lost and a huge thanks to Hugh for cooking another amazing banquet which was Chinese chicken stir-fry with rice followed by an exquisite sticky date pudding with custard for dessert. We are planning to hit the hay early tonight because we are getting up at 4am to set sail for a 30-hour trip to Coffs Harbour.
