VOYAGE NUMBER:  20250104

FROM: Sydney To: Manly

DATE: 5 January 2025

POSITION: Fingal Bay

REPORT: Blue Watch

We were woken up at 6:30 for breakfast which was hashbrown or spaghetti on toast. We held our first knot competition for the trip and the knot for the day was the round turn and two half hitches, blue watch came second by 2 seconds. Our first watch was 8am- 10am and we rotated around the ship practicing knots, learning new skills and taking on different sailing responsibilities. The watch went by quickly however throughout the day the conditions became messy, we were sailing into the wind which made the ship very rocky therefore many crew members were not feeling very well.
A highlight to the day was seeing dolphins ride by and under the side of the ship, they were jumping in and out of the ships waves and it was beautiful to see. The conditions continued to be windy and sway the ship when we had our next watch which was 3pm- 6pm. The waves were coming over the railing as we were tacking and the ship ended on a 35-degree pitch. We went straight to bed because our next watch was going to be from midnight to 4am and we were going to sail through the night.
