CLIENT: Youth Voyage
VOYAGE NUMBER: 20241217
FROM: Sydney To: Sydney
DATE: 19 December 2024
POSITION: Halletts Beach, Broken Bay
REPORT: Blue Watch
We were awoken at 6:30 by the exuberant tonality of the bugle whilst anchored at Morning Bay. First, we dined a solid breakfast comprised of cereal, toast, spaghetti and hashbrowns accompanied by the light presence of fruit juice which allowed our digestive tracts to remain balanced while at sea. After breakfast, all hands were required on deck in order for us to complete our rather challenging, daily knot tying competition, this time we had to attempt the bowline knot as fast as possible in order to win.
Afterwards we split into small groups and did a scavenger hunt around the ship. Then we hoisted the sails to travel in a northerly direction out of Pittwater, achieving many gybes and tacks along the way. We ate Spaghetti Bolognese for lunch, and we begged for seconds as our appetites have drastically increased due to the hard labour we endured throughout the journey.
Later we utilized our ship’s dinghy to sail to a nearby beach and buried each other in sand as well as playing many different collaborative, team building water games including beach volleyball, sandcastle building and water polo.
Once back on board we had another knotting competition, this time doing the clove-hitch. We had a succulent Chinese meal of stir-fry. We ended the day with more fun chats and Jellyfish catching using nets.
