FROM: Manly To: Sydney

DATE: 23 November 2024

POSITION: Horseshoe Bay, Peel Is

REPORT: White Watch

Sailing the South Passage so far has been super fun. We’ve learned so much already and it’s only the first day! To start off, we learned a bunch of different knots and names of sails and strings. We learned how to work as a team, and how to tack, which is turning the ship and switching the sails. The skipper told us we were really good at it.
Another thing we learned was sweating, which is when you push the rope out towards the ocean, then while gripping the rope lean back as far as you can then slowly wiggle your toesie woesies towards the edge.

After we left the port, we sailed around the bay for a few hours, then anchored at a beach to swim. While swimming, we even saw some sting rays! When we came back, we had a quick, cold shower after which we had a knot tying competition, and of course, we won.
Overall we really enjoyed this experience so far. Can’t wait to see what this journey will bring us.
