CLIENT: Churchie Year 10

VOYAGE NUMBER:  20241118

FROM: Manly To: Manly

DATE: 21 November 2024

POSITION: Moreton is

REPORT: White Watch

Today we sailed from the Northern Point of Moreton down past Tangalooma and anchored for the night. Due to the harsh winds we needed to tack every so often in order to reach our endpoint safely and efficiently. This practice of constantly tacking, as well as adding and removing backstays, serves as a good preparation for our sail tomorrow where we have to sail into Manly without support. After experiencing the roughness of open water yesterday, we hoped that our sail today (on the inside of Moreton), would be significantly calmer as it was on the first 2 days.
At the start of the day, we were taken over to the beach, playing footy and exploring the shipwrecks. The most exciting part of the beach visit was spotting the sharks swim close to shore, visible through the crystal-clear water. Cath’s cooking was again amazing today, starting off strong with a bacon and egg sandwich, followed by tasty mince burritos. For dinner we had steak with potatoes, and the night was topped off by sticky date pudding.
Card games continued after dark, while some boys’ minds were already focused on the next meal. Everybody then elected the leadership roles for tomorrow’s voyage, putting their faith in the boys they chose to guide the ship home safely.
