VOYAGE NUMBER:  20241107

FROM: Manly To: Manly

DATE: 08 November 2024

POSITION: Tangalooma

REPORT: Red Watch

Our day started at midnight as we were on watch for 4 hours. Outside had subtle winds and was quiet. We conducted a bearing report while also counting the number of ships that were around our ship. After the shift, we went to sleep and woke up to eat breakfast and get changed for the day.
Next, we had a knotting competition, raised the anchor manually using a capstan to set sail for the day. Red Watch was in charge of the main sail for the day while also helping other parts of the ship. Then all teams had a backstay competition with us winning! Food was good and giving us enough energy to help us last for the day. All of Red Watch got on the bow spit in the middle of the day which was scary at first but got used to it slowly and having more fun.
None of Red Watch have ever been on a sailing ship before which has given us the ability to learn many new skills and are very thankful for this great opportunity. Finally, we arrived near Tangalooma and stopped near a small bay on the side. We played many fun games on the beach with a ball, swam, and climbed massive sand dunes which was very tiring. We anchored the ship down and got to the bay using a small boat.
Then, we got back onto the ship, cleaned up, and got set for another two knotting competitions. After, we have dinner and go on night watch from 6-8. Lastly, we have showers then get into bed ready for the day ahead.
