Our first day aboard the sailing ship was nothing short of exhilarating. The adventure began with a series of tacking manoeuvres, which kept us on our toes and fully engaged. The thrill of the big wind in the sails, adding extra challenge to our newfound skills, and the spray of the sea made every moment unforgettable. Taking the helm was an empowering experience, feeling the ship respond to our actions and steering through the water was both challenging and rewarding. We found a new appreciation for the skill and precision required in sailing.
After mastering some essential knots, we participated in a friendly knot-tying competition. It was a fun way to test our new skills and bond with each other. The camaraderie and laughter made it a memorable part of the day.
The food on board has been delicious, providing much needed energy. What has truly made the day exceptional is the crew. The staff have been incredibly helpful and patient, always ready to assist and share their knowledge. Their willingness to help and teach made us feel welcome and supported throughout the day.
Overall, despite a little sunburn and sea sickness amongst our group, the first day as crew on the sailing ship was a fantastic blend of learning, adventure and fun. We’re looking forward to what the rest of our journey holds! Nate, Ziggy, Joel, Jack G
