CLIENT: Ormiston College

VOYAGE NUMBER:  20240913

FROM: Manly To: Manly

DATE: 14 September 2024

POSITION: Big Sandhills, Moreton Is

REPORT: Red Watch

Starting at the midnight watch, we looked at the conditions around the ship and learned navigation skills, making sure the ship was safe and secure on the anchor. We went back to sleep for a few more hours before being woken by a bugle played by Taleise.

At our morning watch, we had a busy 10-12 watch with tacking, gybing, reefing the sails, and raising sails including the main. We were constantly being put to work during our watch, but even had the time to see some playful whales in the distance.

Throughout the rest of our day, we had the opportunity to hang out in the Bowsprit and help the other watches with their duties, as well as playing many games below deck. By 2 PM, we had reached Moreton Island where we went ashore and climbed a massive sand dune.

We have our final watch this evening from 6-8 where we look after the vessel and make sure that everything is in order and working as it should to stop collision with other vessels, as well as marking bearings for the morning, in which we will also be on watch for. We now prepare for our Qualifying Journey, which starts tomorrow. Alasdair, Loire, Corey, Megan, George
