REPORT: Red Watch

Day recap:

  • 12:00 – 2:00am watch: Coordinate checking, compass, learnt navigation, checked no drift, hot choccy, adventure booklet, sniped by Gussy
  • Back to sleep, got up at 6:30 woken by Zack playing the Bugle.
  • Cold brekky, knot tying comp, hot brekky
  • Sailed from Sandhills to Tangalooma via a thoroughly indirect route passing by the shipping channel, to practice sailing skills including tacking and teamwork.
  • Cath made us burgers for lunch
  • Pulled up at Tangalooma at approximately 1:30pm for a swim and a climb/roll on the sand dunes.
  • Bowline competition: red watch came second at 51 seconds, beaten by white (45 seconds).
  • Dinner at sunset
  • After dinner a compass was used to measure bearings for three points of reference, the East Cardinal Marker at 318 degrees, the Green Chanel Marker at 235 Degrees, and Tangalooma Jetty at 165 degrees from the boat.
  • Once our groups watch was completed, cheese-cake was served for dessert.
  • Looking forward to being on the head sails tomorrow and having the early watch from 4-8am.
