DATE: 3 September 2024

POSITION: Inskip Point

REPORT: Blue Watch

Considering the rude awakening from the continuous snoring from all the boys in the cabin and the rasping bugle by Noa, our day started off with a BEAUTIFUL 5-star meal from Louise (the best chef in the world) where we munched on hashbrowns cooked to perfection. Followed by the knot tying competition for a reef knot whilst waiting to prepare to hit the big blue wet thing AKA the ocean. The sails were eventually put up where the wind was going at 30 knots, flipping the ship to a 60-degree passage heightening the anxiety throughout the crew.

Although Raph and I had the 2-3am anchor watches I still was able to go back to sleep with relative ease. In the morning, the loud bugle call by Noa was quite the rude awakening. Breakfast was absolutely godly, toast, hashbrowns, and spaghetti, all stacked in one tower. Amazing.

Later in the day we had the Skipper teach us about all directions a boat can be and turn in, not before the Knotting Competition which was the Reef Knot. Despite me going twice with loads of practice under my belt, we of course came second once again. After the Skipper’s talk to us about tacks and gybes, we tried our hand at what we learned, we got to tack the ship lots, everybody heaving, John and Phoenix running from one sheet line to the other.

I was holding on for dear life, completely of my own accord, sliding across the benches and one hand barely holding onto the rail. Contrary to what other people might say about Tuesday, I’d say I had the time of my life. After we lowered the sails and anchored, we had dinner. I didn’t really want what Louise was selling and just had biscuits from my own bag. Tomorrow, at breakfast I’ll make up what I didn’t eat. Hoping to be Bosun tomorrow or the day after.
