CLIENT: Aldridge SHS

VOYAGE NUMBER:  20240827

FROM: Hervey Bay To: Hervey Bay

DATE: 28 August 2024

POSITION: Platypus Bay

REPORT: Red Watch

From 0200 to 0300, half of the group, the boys, on night watch saw and heard whales beside the ship. We heard the Dingos howling at Fraser. At 0600, we started off back to Urangan to drop off an ill staff member, then we set off to Platypus Bay. We raised the sails, after a while the wind picked up to 7 knots and we tacked the ship back and forth to get to a channel between sandbars. Due to the wind blowing against us, we had to use the motor at some point to get past the blow. The wind and the current were pushing us backwards. Multiple dolphins were spotted, and one turtle.

We went swimming in the ocean once anchored; we cannonballed off the side of the ship and played mermaids, other people made attempts to kiss the gold mermaid on the front of the ship. (For ‘good luck’). We did our knotting competition, some of us (red watch) were faster than others. We had dinner and now we’re writing this.
