CLIENT: General Public Voyage

VOYAGE NUMBER:  20240821

FROM: Rosslyn Bay To: Hervey Bay

DATE: 22 August 2024

POSITION: Pancake Creek

REPORT: Red Watch

We departed Cape Capricorn after hot breakfast and a beautiful sunrise!  There was a light breeze but warmed up soon enough, especially after hauling up the sails.  Our morning briefing at 0700 was interrupted by the sighting of a whale. We never tire of seeing these majestic mammals.

It was a busy passage through Curtiss Channel, dodging whales and container ships. Many of the crew took the opportunity to go ashore at Pancake Creek with sighting of a large turtle being the in-water highlight and discovery of some hidden sandy beaches the delight of the landlubbers.

We all thought we dodged a bullet but alas Skip called everyone to deck to compete in stage 1 of the knot competition – round turn and two half hitches, followed by a reef knot, both completed on the ships railing.  Result: each team currently on 4 points apiece.  Stay tuned for the deciders!
