South Passage Daily Report

CLIENT: General Public Sail & Walk

VOYAGE NUMBER:  20240806

FROM: Airlie Beach To: Airlie Beach

DATE: 9 August 2024

POSITION: Long Is, Whitsunday Is

REPORT: White Watch

We started the morning to the sound of the bugle, masterfully played by our youngest seafarer Jack. The beach fought the food and the food one. Instead of having a healthy bushwalk on White Haven Beach we fatted ourselves for strenuous day ahead. Breakfast number 2, consisted of the quintessential breakfast of pirate champions, bacon and eggs.

Fattened and ready we flaked the flapping lines, and raised the sails. We came in hot to Satan’s Solway Passage, where the water boiled and seethed like a leper’s cauldron on a good day.

The wind bent South Passage and the crew shook as we smoked passed Hamilton Island. We threw the lures but no fish were fast enough to catch them. Mangrove Jack was not dismayed. He persisted till nightfall with a shiny thing with many hooks. We fetched up on a beach in front of an abandoned resort. We had to trek some distance following the scent of Captain Morgan to gain relief. We look forward to landfall at Scary Beach.
