CLIENT: Peace Lutheran College
VOYAGE NUMBER: 20240609
FROM: Townsville To: Cairns
DATE: 9 June 2024
POSITION: Orpheus Is
REPORT: White Watch
We arrived at Townsville late last night to be greeted by our lovely crew and divided into our watch groups, Red, White and Blue. After settling into our 3-storey bunks, we awoke this morning to the rumbling engines leaving Townsville Harbour and a magical sunrise over Magnetic Island.
We spent the morning on board, learning to tie knots, raising the sails, taking turns at steering the ship and we even caught a fish! (Which we kissed and released back to his family) R.I.P Fishy. We had a ‘man overboard’ drill which scared Lani, because she thought we actually might have lost a student, however, ‘BOB’ was more of a buoy than an actual boy.
After rescuing BOB, we sailed on to Orpheus Island, and docked at Yanks jetty. The water was clear turquoise, and fish were everywhere. The crew stayed on board with cups of tea, whilst the students swam, snorkelled and played tackle on the beach. We returned back to the ship for a rope tying competition, that white watch rightfully SHOULD have won because the game was rigged and Ms Kelly did not understand the rules. Anyway, luckily, dinner was AMAZING, and we ended the night with a dinner date while the sunset followed by dessert to die for.
