South Passage Daily Report

CLIENT: Gold Youth Voyage

VOYAGE NUMBER:  20220116

FROM: Manly to Manly

DATE: 21 January 2022

POSITION: Peel Is

REPORT BY: Red Watch

We woke up at 4am to a lovely morning in the bay, after some quick morning nav exercises were put to work polishing the brass at the helm. The dulcet tones of the bugle played by Tom woke the rest at 6 and a yummy breakfast of eggs and beans got us pumped for our last full day on the ship. Red watch for the SIXTH time in a row won the knot competition, smashing blue and white by many seconds increasing our lead to unreachable heights.

Windy conditions meant the mainsail and jib had to stay down to ensure some smooth-ish sailing. While the rain stayed away the ocean still made sure to soak our last bits of dry and very smelly clothing. Many tacks and miles later we anchored in beside Peel Island at around 5.00pm after another long day. Some turtles and dolphins made sure to say hello and the afternoon was spent playing some competitive games of UNO (Tom lost) and eating some butter chicken for dinner.

We rounded out the night with an election for command day tomorrow. Hopefully, skipper Adam, sailing master Liv and Nav man Keilan will get us all home safe and sound tomorrow. Our new watch leaders, Tom, Jojo and Megan will be leading the crew on the final stretch home. Miss you all, see you tomorrow! Red watch out.
