South Passage Daily Report

CLIENT: Gold Youth Voyage

VOYAGE NUMBER:  20211211

FROM: Manly to Manly

DATE: 13 December 2021

POSITION: Off Fraser Island

REPORT BY: Blue Watch

The day started with an entertaining knot tying competition, where the three watches raced to tie the figure-of-eight knot the fastest. With Blue Watch robbed for first place, the crew departed the boat for a swim and a game of cricket on the beach. The crew departed Double Island Point shortly after to begin the long sail to Bundaberg ahead. With rough seas and sizeable waves, the crew found new challenges in running the ship. Soon, the day was brightened as the crew spotted a pod of dolphins playing off the bow. With the South Passage surfing the waves at seven knots, Fraser Island passed by slowly.

Shortly before sunset another knot tying competition took place, where Blue Watch dominated the other watches by a spectacular 30 seconds – a time never before seen in South Passage history. After another stunning dinner by our favourite cook, Louise, Blue Watch departed for bed, leaving Red Watch to begin the first leg of the endurance sail at night.
