South Passage Daily Report

CLIENT: Somerset College

VOYAGE NUMBER:  20210906

FROM: Hervey Bay to Manly

DATE: 8 September 2021

POSITION: En route to Moreton Bay

REPORT BY: Blue Watch

Today was our first experience on open waters. We took on the challenge of crossing the Wide Bay bar. A few unlucky sailors felt sick. We started the morning off with the second round of the rope tying competition, in which we represented our watch teams, and had to tie a reef knot as fast as possible. The competition was extremely close with only 4 seconds in between 1st and 3rd!

Later on in the day, Hugh brought a bit of Mexico with him as he served us some incredible burritos. The night watches have the challenge of sailing through the night, through the cold, dark environment. We were treated with breath-taking sights as whales and dolphins put on a show for us. Overall the day was a challenge to all as we further embrace what it takes to become a sailor.
