South Passage Daily Report

CLIENT: Sail and Walk Voyage

VOYAGE NUMBER:  20210711

FROM: Townsville to Townsville

DATE: 14 July 2021

POSITION: Hinchinbrook Is

REPORT BY: Blue Watch

Today we saw most of the crew ascend Mount Kootaloo on Dunk Island. Eleven of us did the longer walk via the south of the island along the beach and then climbing to the top for spectacular views to the west.

This island is typical of many on the Queensland coast having had boom and bust periods driven by either cyclones or idyllic tourist trade. This island will hopefully have a rebirth soon.

From Dunk, we headed south into the Hinchinbrook Channel. Winds were light but perfect weather as we bathed in the winter sun! At nightfall we continued through the channel and welcomed some night navigation via the beacons.

A very tired but happy crew enjoyed another superb meal from Louise and then apart from a few state of origin hopefuls, we all crashed into bed having had a terrific day.
