Today we woke up early for a long 5 hour bus ride. When we finally arrived on the ship, we had in incredible lunch prepared by Louise, it was bread rolls with many condiments. We found out our groups and which bunks we were in. We learnt many new skills while setting up the sails including, teamwork, and different ways to tie off ropes. As the sun was going down there was a nice sunset they everyone played a game. It was, which team could tie a round turn and two half hitches the fastest. Everyone one went after each from each group and the red group won. Afterwards we all had a delicious dinner prepared by Louise again, it was chicken drumsticks with rice, peas, carrots and gravy.
I had a great first day on the south passage trip today. Before we got here I was worried if I would enjoy being on a boat for so long but now that I’m here I know I will have a lot of fun. So far in the short time we have been here we learnt how to put up the sails, many different knots and much more. It’s already very windy and wavy so I’m excited to see what it’s like out in the ocean. It’s already an amazing experience and I can’t wait to see what else they have planned for us.
