VOYAGE NUMBER:  20181028

FROM: Port Stephens To: Sydney

DATE: 28 October 2018

POSITION: Broughton Is

REPORT BY: Blue Watch

We started our long voyage with an early departure from Nelson Bay Marina. We had an early morning wakeup call at approximately 6:30 am, then had a cold breakfast consisting of toast and cereal. Afterwards the crew members gave us an induction on how to safely operate and manage the boat. After the briefing we were greeted by a nice warm second breakfast of eggs and beans and handed our shifts for sailing the boat.

Placed into three teams, red white and blue (the best team), we were tasked with rigging the sails, adjusting ropes and of course steering the boat itself. The water was reasonably calm until we reached the outer rims of the bay where it began to become choppy and harsh as the tide rose. This made sailing more challenging but it wouldn’t be sailing without it. We continued to sail until we reached Broughton Island and then anchored the ship. After finishing our shifts we enjoyed the rest of the evening with a knot tying competition and a great hot dinner followed by a delicious dessert. Aaien
