CLIENT: Holiday Voyage
VOYAGE NUMBER: 20180924
FROM: Manly TO: Hervey Bay
DATE: 24 Sept 2018
REPORT BY: Blue Watch
This morning we set sail at approximately 10:00 am from Manly to begin our journey to Tangalooma. We were given a safety briefing and introduction to both the ship and crew. Students were indicated and classed into their respective watches and watch leaders, and then assigned a sail. Blue watch was at the jib and staysail, the Red watch at the Main mast, and the White watch at the Foresail. We had salad and bread rolls for lunch, with Rock melon for afternoon tea.
We arrived at Tangalooma on Moreton Island at approximately 3:00 pm and had the opportunity to go to shore and snorkel amongst the Tangalooma wrecks. Some students saw a turtle whilst snorkelling. We then returned to the ship at 5:00pm to prepare for the knot tying competition. The knot we had to learn was round turn two half hitches, which we previously learnt to tie our bunks. We had rice, chicken drumsticks and vegetables for dinner, followed by apple pie and custard for dessert.
It was a very enjoyable day, although challenging.
