CLIENT: Townsville Grammar School

VOYAGE NUMBER:  20230719

FROM: Townsville to Townsville

DATE: 22 July 2023

POSITION: Herald Is

REPORT: White Watch

Today marks our last day of guided sailing before we attempt to guide the ship home on our own. The watches have practiced hard the past few days to learn how to operate all the different parts of the ship and, although nervous, are feeling prepared for tomorrow’s challenge. White Watch tackled the foresail today and we are definitely feeling more efficient, and clear in preparing and hoisting the sails on Day 4 of the journey.

Our teamwork is impeccable! We started the day in Hinchinbrook Channel which was stunning in the morning fog, and enjoyed a delicious breakfast before setting sail for Esk Island where we swam and played beach footy. We then proceeded to throw ourselves off the edge of the ship, which was an awesome feeling, but we can still taste the sea water we swallowed. Tonight we are moored in between Rattlesnake and Herald Island’s, and will soon commence the voting for our Skipper, Sail Master and Navigator of Day 5 – wish us luck! We’ll see you all at the dock.
