South Passage Daily Report

CLIENT: Flexi Schools Brisbane

FROM: Manly TO: Manly

DATE: 5 Sept 2017

POSITION: Tangalooma Wrecks, Moreton Is

Report by: Blue Watch

Flexi School students from different campuses around Brisbane boarded South Passage and after gear was stowed and the introduction by skipper and the safety brief by sailing master were given, South Passage motored out into Waterloo Bay. Some initial training was then given by the watchleaders before sails were hoisted. With a fresh SW wind blowing, fast progress was made towards Moreton Island. However the wind dropped suddenly and eventually, it was necessary to motor sail into the anchorage near Tangalooma Wrecks.

Students then had the opportunity to swim ashore (just on change of tide) and then climb the sand hills and swim. After returning to South Passage the first round of the knotting competition was conducted, the round turn and two half hitches. White watch beat red watch by one second! A delicious dinner served by Cath was then enjoyed by all. After some cards games, most students went to bed leaving only the duty watch in charge of South Passage.
