CLIENT: The Hills Grammar School
VOYAGE NUMBER: 20171218
FROM: Sydney TO: Sydney
DATE: 18th December 2017
POSITION: Gunnamatta Bay (south of Sydney)
REPORT BY : Blue Watch
Today the team woke up early from their own beds to come to Walsh Bay for an 8:00 meeting to board the South Passage. The parents observed the boat, took many photos and said their goodbyes to their children who then ventured off on a gaffed-rig schooner to learn to sail. Aboard the ship, everyone was split into 3 teams; either the White Watch, Blue Watch or Red Watch. Each team would then learn how to tie knots, tidy the ship, and sail a fully functional sailing ship. We travelled south to Port Hacking, tacking and gybing, experiencing some rough weather on the way there. A few people were sick but overall, spirits were not dampened, despite the occasional sprinkle of rain. We expect the night to be peaceful with calm seas and nice weather.
