South Passage Daily Report

FROM: Cairns TO: Cairns

DATE: 20 June 2017

POSITION: Michaelmas Cay

Report by: Blue Watch

Today our watch began at 4am. At 6am we polished the brass. At 6:30 we had crispy bacon and egg on toast for breakfast. Before we set sail we had a backstay competition and knot competition; blue watch won both and we were rewarded with chocolate. Throughout the day we saw some spectacular aquatic life, including dolphins and large black fish swimming under our boat after we anchored up at Michaelmas Cay, which is a protected bird rookery.

After we anchored we went swimming and as the fish swum underneath us, we jumped off the boat and climbed up and kissed the mermaid. We also had a knotting competition doing the rolling hitch, placing second. We then had chicken and vegetable stir fry for dinner which was delicious, for dessert we had peaches and custard. After dinner we nominated our command crew for tomorrow’s return to Cairns and had a very entertaining talent show including Daewah and his Mongolian throat singing! Being Justin’s birthday we sang happy birthday to him an unnecessary number of times.
