CLIENT: Coastal Dreaming
VOYAGE NUMBER: 20260519
FROM: Rosslyn Bay To: Mackay
POSITION: Pearl Bay
DATE: 19 May 2026
REPORT: White Watch
The day started foggy, hazy and calm – no wind. Whatever wind developed came from the wrong direction so we motor-sailed all day. When the wind shifted enough to fill the sails, the motion of the boat became much more comfortable, damping out most of the rolling. Unfortunatly, it didn’t last very long.
The positive was that we all got a go at the helm, practicing navigation skills, learning knots and deepening our knowledge of sailing. It was a shock finding out how many people it took to raise a sail without modern technology.
We followed the coast up, around 5 -10 nautical miles (10-16k’s) off shore. Dinner was beyond expectations! We enjoyed dinner watching the sunset, the cresent moon and the evening star at Pearl Bay, enhanced by the Skipper serenading us with the ukelele.
