VOYAGE NUMBER:  20190805

DATE: 5 August 2019

POSITION:  Palm Is

REPORT BY: Group A Blue Watch

Our group was the first aboard the South Passage, as can be expected everyone was so excited as it has many great reviews from the previous camp groups. When we first saw the boat we were all wondering how we would all fit in what looked a small boat. We were shown around and then settled in quickly. In the first hour we were all assigned our working groups and shown how to operate the different stations. We were lucky enough to see whales and dolphins on our way to Palm Island. It was the perfect day with perfect weather, although there was some unfortunate passengers who did not have the perfect experience, with some of our group feeling sea sick.

Heading into the night, the anchor was dropped and a friendly competition practising our round turn and two half hitch knots. Which was followed by a splendored cooked dinner by our amazing chef Hugh. After everyone was well feed we celebrated our camp mates Kirsty’s 16th birthday by being treated to apple pie and custard along with some cake. Then we had some free time and some of the boys had their heart set on catching some fish. Perry our seasoned fisher caught a squid that inked all over the deck. Unfortunately for Perry he had to get his hands dirty and clean the mess up. Everyone was pretty much done for the day, so everyone cleaned their teeth and got ready for night watch.
