South Passage Daily Report

CLIENT: Silkwood School

VOYAGE NUMBER:  20190429

FROM: Manly To: Manly

DATE: 3 May 2019

POSITION: Big Sandhills, Moreton Is

REPORT BY: White Watch

This morning we woke up at 5am and worked a bit in our adventure manual and did some cleaning, then practiced our knot which was called the double sheet bend. Red watch are in the lead with the knot tying competition, followed by White watch, with Blue watch in third place.

For breakfast we had pancakes, then we all worked together to pull the anchor up, set the sails up and set course for Peel Island. Most of us jumped off the boat and then all went to the beach to explore the sand flats and marine life at low tide.

In the afternoon we pulled the anchor back up and set the sails to continue practicing our skills in preparation for our big sailing day on Saturday. We sailed through some light rains and into early evening, mooring at the Giant sand dune at Moreton Island.

After dinner, we conducted our election for the crew leaders for tomorrow, voting in Elsa as Skipper, Brandon as Sailing Master and Ben as Navigator. Red Watch Leader is Samir, Blue Watch is Polly and White Watch is Levi. We’re looking forward to the challenge of sailing the South Passage back to Manly port tomorrow.
