Day 3 started at midnight for Blue Watch with a four hour anchor watch at our overnight mooring at Currigee Camp, South Stradbroke Island. It was lovely to have a peaceful night after a fairly rough all night sail the previous evening.
Before departing Currigee Camp, we participated in a knotting competition followed by passengers and crew enjoying a shore visit with a walk across to the surf beach and/or a swim at the inside passage beach. Departing mid-morning, the voyage provided exercises in following markers for pilotage rather than sailing to a bearing or the wind. We motored and sailed through the island dotted passage passing quaint hamlets and villages to tonight’s anchorage at Blakersley’s Camp, North Stradbroke Island.
Enroute we celebrated our Sailing Master’s birthday with a cake made of lamington fingers – thanks to the ingenuity of our versatile cook. We also participated in another instalment of our ongoing knotting competition. The outcome is as yet undecided for the evening competition for which a new term has been invented – cacophonic snoring.
