South Passage Daily Report

CLIENT: Silver Youth Voyage

VOYAGE NUMBER:  20190930

FROM: Hervey Bay To: Manly

DATE: 30 September 2019

POSITION:  Arch Cliffs, Platypus Bay

REPORT BY: Blue Watch

After a hearty wakeup call at 0630, the crew were treated to a breakfast of fresh porridge, cereal, baked beans and scrambled eggs before meeting the rest of the crew who had arrived that morning. Watches were sorted, names were learnt and washing up was done before finally leaving Wide Bay marina.

After motoring for the first 1-2 hours and performing the initial raise of the sails with no major hiccups, we were on our way to Fraser Island accompanied by a whale what seemed to be having a w-h-a-l-e of a time! While blue team was on watch, the ship made a tack to be parallel with the beach, soaring along at a whopping 3 knots.

After anchoring, those valiant enough to brave the icy waters of Fraser Island did so. A knot-tying competition was soon held which was successfully bettered by the red team. Tomorrow, the knot tying competition will involve a reef knot, so red team better watch their backs because the blue team will be the ones to beat.
