South Passage Daily Report

CLIENT: Youth Gold Voyage

VOYAGE NUMBER:  20201204

FROM: Manly to Manly

DATE: 8 December 2020

POSITION:  Yamba

REPORT BY: White Watch

This morning we awoke well rested in Coffs Harbour, no anchor watch was needed that night, so everyone had an awesome well deserved rest. After waking up we started our morning with our cold breakfast before the knot competition. White, yet again, won the rope competition because we are amazing. After the rope competition we ate a delicious spaghetti and hash brown breakfast, made by our amazing cook, Hugh.

We left at quarter to nine, anticipating heaps of wind and bad weather but we were surprised with sun and calm water. We passed many grassy islands and stayed close to the coast along the way, to avoid the Australian eastern current. For lunch we enjoyed a light meal of bread rolls. Along our travels, Keagan went fishing and caught a teeny tiny tuna, winning his bet with Dave. As we sailed we passed multiple gorgeous beaches, including Sandon beach.

The South Passage arrived at Yamba at 5:30 and we anchored at the Iluka Harbour. As we entered the harbour we were concerned at whether we would be able to get in safely, given the depth of the water compared to the size of the ship. Finally, we ended the night by eating a delicious dinner of beef stew and rice under a clear sky with a lot of stars.
