South Passage Daily Report

CLIENT: Mackillop College Bathurst

VOYAGE NUMBER:  20181113

FROM: Sydney To: Sydney

DATE: 14 November 2018

POSITION: Lane Cove River

REPORT BY: White Watch

This morning we were woken up at 6:30 by Sarah with the bugle before proceeding to our cold breakfast. Then we had a knotting competition and tying the reef knot followed by our hot breakfast. Due to the predicted weather conditions the skipper, Damon, suggested we go to the beach in front of the zoo for a swim and shore time. While on shore we took a rubbish bag and cleaned up the beach.

On returning to the ship we showered on the deck with a cold water shower and got ready our sail for the day. Sails went up and we motored out of the heads. The predicted 20 knots winds evaded us and we rolled and rolled and rolled over the swell. This made many of us sea sick. After 3 hours of sailing we returned to Sydney Harbour to anchor at Lane Cove.

After dinner it was suggested by Hugh our cook that we have a concert. We were entertained by Sarah and Olivia, Callum, Hugh, Indy, Mrs Sullivan. To finish off the concert, we partook in a variety of line dances… never been performed on the South Passage before. At 8:00pm white watch started their evening watch and the rest had free time. In bed and lights out by 9:30pm.
