CLIENT: The Cathedral School – Group C
VOYAGE NUMBER: 20180807
FROM: Townsville TO: Townsville
DATE: 11th August 2018
REPORT BY: White Watch
When we first lay eyes on the beautiful South Passage, she was moored at Yanks jetty. We could already tell that this was going to be an unforgettable adventure. Everyone made the most of our eventful start by splitting into our Watch groups. White Group was obviously the superior group, with our fantastic Watch Leader Jonnie. Eagerly, we explored our new home, finding our bunks, mastering how to flush the toilet and fiddled around with our fancy life jackets. Together we learnt to tie a Hitch on the line, tie a few knots, like the reef knot, and to raise and lower Jib sail and the Stay sail. We later went below deck to indulge in Hugh’s amazing spag bowl and pudding. South Passage then lowered her sails for the night as we pulled into Lucinda. Piper bravely put the Jib Sail to bed in the dark, using reef knots to secure the sail as she inched along the bowsprit in her harness. With the Jib Sail in bed, the new crew enjoyed some down time before lights out, with the first watch for the White Group undertaken by Piper, Matthew and Charlotte, guided by the awesome Jonnie. This was truly a gorgeous start to our South Passage adventure.
