South Passage Daily Report

CLIENT: Townsville Flexi School

VOYAGE NUMBER:  20180604

FROM: Mackay TO: Townsville

DATE: 7 June 2018

POSITION: Cape Upstart

REPORT BY: Red Watch

Today we woke up at 6:00 by Todd tapping our heads and the red watch needed to do some brass polishing. We went to the stern and I polished the hatch which took a while. The others on red watch are Zach, Rhamsey, Todd and Mary. Rhamsey’s bell looked very shiny and neat. At 6:30 at the sound of the bugle the rest of the crew got up and had a beautiful breakfast made by Hugh the chef. The first breakfast was porridge and cereal but I didn’t have any, second breakfast was fried eggs and juicy bacon – it was delicious.

While the whole crew was hoisting the anchor an adult manta ray jumped out of the water. Earlier, we did a backstay competition, which we lost but we gave it a try. I did the helming and it was a bit difficult because the wind was strong and the waves were big. We arrived at Cape Upstart and I went to sleep while most of the other crew went to the beach on a dingy. After dinner we did a concert for Hugh, at which everyone laughed. I was also nominated to be the watch leader for Command Day, tomorrow. Bridie
