REPORT: Red Watch
We started our day at 12 am in the morning with a watch from 12 till 4. We looked through compasses to see what angle the ship was, used a sensor to see how strong the wind was and double-checked the rest of the important features of the ship, like the anchor light and coordinates. We were all pretty tired afterwards, but it was still very enjoyable and peaceful to do. Then we went back to bed later to be woken by the cool of the bugle at 6:30.
For our breakfast we had cereal and toast, then we did a knot tying competition for the Reef knot and came last, then started sailing and our watch-duties. We got to wind up the anchor by running around in circles while pushing the wheel in a clockwise rotation. We each took turns steering the ship and raising the sails. It was pretty difficult, and we had to get lots of help, but it was very enjoyable.
Then we had burgers for lunch and got to make it ourselves. It was yummy, but we kept getting splashed with water while we ate, and it made the buns soggy. It was very windy and rainy so we kept having to put on our raincoats.
We ended up on Tangalooma Bay and had a swim in the water at the beach, we all had lots of fun and got soaked on the ride back to the ship. Then we anchored and had dinner. Tonight, we had a stew for dinner with custard and peaches for dessert. We played games afterward, like Bananagrams, UNO, and chess. We have another watch from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. We’re all tired and want to have a good sleep tonight.
