South Passage Daily Report

CLIENT: TS Ipswich Navy Cadets

VOYAGE NUMBER:  20221111

FROM: Manly to Manly

DATE: 12 November 2022

POSITION: Big Sandhills, Moreton Is

REPORT BY: Red Watch

This morning Charli and Rahma woke up at 0030hrs to do anchor watch. This consisted of taking three different compass bearings from different light beacons and measuring the wind speed before filling out the logbook with said information. We did this twice before we swapped off watch with others.

At 1100hrs we started our daily watch this consisted of navigation, rope tying, tacking and we took turns as lookouts. Afterwards we along with the other cadets sat on the bowsprit, which is located at the front of the ship otherwise known as the bow. Several cadets experienced sea sickness due to motion sickness, rough waves as well home sickness.

A few of us jumped of the side of the ship to have a swim while we were anchored just off Moreton Island. Everyone in Red Watch participated in a knot tying competition which we placed last. We were lucky to be able to watch the sun set while eating yet another delicious meal cooked by our amazing chef aboard. Red Watch, over and out
