South Passage Daily Report

CLIENT: TS Ipswich Navy Cadets

VOYAGE NUMBER:  20221111

FROM: Manly to Manly

DATE: 11 November 2022

POSITION: Horseshoe Bay, Peel Is

REPORT BY: White Watch

We boarded the ship at approximately 1430 and left the port at 1530. We began the journey by hoisting the main sail and stowing our gear. We learnt to work the sails and assist with the ship. I enjoyed my first day as we learned the ropes to the ship and talked with our crew members. We learnt each part of the ship, the safety aspects, and the practical learning of each part.

We passed many ships, waving to each one that went passed. We learned to “flake” each rope which is a process of zig-zagging the rope to get it out of the way. The hoisting of the main was also enjoyed by many as we all felt in a team working towards one goal.

At the end of the day, we dropped anchor at Horseshoe Bay, Peel Island. This involved an effort of dropping each sail and tying them off. For dinner we had chicken, rice, veggies, and gravy. For dessert we had apple pie and custard. Dinner was enjoyed by all with all complements to the excellent chief on board. My watch begins at 4 am with all people waking up by 6 am.
