South Passage Daily Report

CLIENT: Silver Youth Voyage

VOYAGE NUMBER:  20220920

FROM: Manly to Hervey Bay

DATE: 21 September 2022

POSITION: Snout Point, Great Sandy Straits

REPORT BY: Red Watch

The whole crew was woken up at 0400 to hoist the sails and head towards Fraser Island. Red watch, however, was woken to have the 0000-0400 watch. As the day progressed more wind picked up, however it held its direction and so there were near perfect sailing conditions. One line was held for the whole day, as the wind was in our favour. However, it was slightly choppier than yesterday.

There were approximately four whale sightings as well as a few dolphins. We held one course throughout the whole day as we had to make a certain position before the tide dropped too far.

We dropped anchor around 1730 at Snout Point. After this the rope knot tying competition was held for a reef knot, with Red watch coming first, Blue second, and White third. This was then followed by the crew and watches having dinner and dessert.
