South Passage Daily Report

CLIENT: Voyage of Friends

VOYAGE NUMBER:  20220610

FROM: Townsville to Cairns

DATE: 10 June 2022

POSITION: Horseshoe Bay, Magnetic Is

REPORT BY: White Watch

We met the night before at Cbar to all get to know each other. Next morning we enjoyed our last land-based shower, and were delighted to find porridge for breakfast. Our heads were spinning after lots of briefings on safety and general procedures. Shortly after 9am we departed for Magnetic Island. All sails were raised, with us responsible for the main sail. It was a steep learning curve but all sails were raised successfully without incident. The motor was turned off for a short while. We eventually pulled in to Horseshoe Bay and dropped anchor.

A self-serve lunch of delicious bread rolls, cold meat and salad was enjoyed, then most of us headed to shore in the dinghy and did the Fort Ruins Lookout walk, though a few remained in town. Back on board we had another delicious meal, followed by a surprise birthday cake for James plus the standard South Passage dessert.
