Gold Duke of Ed Voyage
Before raising the sails, everyone helped raise the anchor and primed the pump to clean the mud off the anchor. We then worked on the mainsail with Miliah being our wonderful Bosun for the day. We had watch from 10:00 to 12:00 during which it was heavily raining and windy, but we sought shelter in a windbreak. There were plans to go for a swim during the day but due to the strong wind we are going to do that tomorrow. Skip to content

VOYAGE NUMBER:  20230702

FROM: Cairns to Cairns

DATE: 4 July 2023

POSITION: Mourilyan Harbour

REPORT: Blue Watch

The morning began with a cold breakfast followed by an exhilarating knot tying competition. Blue watch’s leader, Dave, taught us a very speedy way to tie a figure of eight, however we did not win as some members struggled. Our competition was held inside due to the relentless rain. Luckily, we (blue watch) managed to redeem ourselves with winning the bowline competition with incredible speed. Afterwards, we enjoyed a hot breakfast of hash browns and toast.

After an exhausting and freezing watch, we were glad to rest. The day ended with Chinese chicken and rice, and then blueberry Danish pastries with custard.
