Hi from Magnetic Island!

Although somewhat sunburnt and seasick it was clear that a great day was had by all. From the yummy food to the friendly whale, today was a day we will all remember. We learnt how to tack, tie a round turn and two half hitches and steer the ship. The beds are comfortable for almost everyone (except for the boys who have bull ants in their beds).

After an intriguing day of sailing we anchored at Horseshoe bay at Magnetic Island. We jumped aboard the rubber ducky and headed to shore for an exciting afternoon. We rewarded ourselves with a Maxibon after climbing the biggest rock we could see and swimming in freezing cold waters. The fresh breezes and hundreds of palm trees made for a relaxing afternoon. We then raced each other for a place on the first rubber ducky back to the ship, the first back were the first to get warm showers. Everyone was super competitive.

However, the competitiveness was not lost at the showers but continued through to the knot tying competition with the Red watch beating Blue watch by 3 seconds (It was rigged- we will win tomorrow!). Hugh’s amazing mash, chicken drumsticks and apple pie were the cherry on top of a brilliant day. We can’t wait for our 8pm-12:00am night watch.

Lots of Love, Hannah and Marnie, Blue Watch
